SBD Automotive is a rapidly growing global automotive technology research firm which provides its clients across the automotive industry with actionable insights and analysis in the fields of Connected Car (infotainment, telematics, mobility services, EV’s, apps, etc.), Autonomous Car (ADAS, active safety, autonomous vehicle, V2X), and Secure Car (automotive security and cyber security).

SBD’s rapidly growing North America office based near downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan USA, is hiring a Connected Car Senior Specialist to support its further expansion into the U.S. market. This full-time position will report to the regional head of connected car consulting services.

Position Responsibilities

The role will be varied, with a primary focus on, effective management of strategic projects, winning/guiding executive-level client engagements, as well as delivering complex research projects at high rates of quality and efficiency:
•Managing end to end client projects with minimal direct supervision

•Conducting in-depth primary and secondary research of the connected car market (trends, analysis, insights, market intelligence, relationship mapping, data gathering, etc.) in areas such as infotainment, connected car services, mobility services, automotive technology hardware/software, user experience, etc.

•Facilitating executive-level client workshops

•Effectively delivering presentations on connected car research and market trends to various automotive audiences (including executive level clients and contacts)

•Conducting proactive sales of SBD reports, consumer usability studies, and senior client consultancy projects

•Attending, presenting, and effectively engaging at trade shows, industry events, and on-site projects

•Providing timely and professional support to various client needs, with account management responsibilities

•Networking with key individuals across the connected car and fleet management ecosystems

•“Pitching in” and maintain flexibility to support company and team growth

•Domestic travel required for trade shows, client research, and customer visits

Required Skills and Experience

• At least 5 years of domain experience in one or both of the two following areas: •Connected Car: ideally from an automotive OEM, Tier 1/Tier 2 automotive technology supplier, service provider, and/or technology research or analyst firm
•Fleet Management: ideally in product planning or development from a connected fleet platform provider, an automotive OEM, operators of large fleets or large dealership networks
•Experience managing employees in an agile environment with increasing levels of responsibility
•Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving abilities
•Ability to multitask and prioritize numerous projects and clients at the same time while maintaining transparency, relying on existing resources and ensuring client satisfaction
•Effective communications skills (oral and written) to simplify complicated technologies for our clients, exude confidence in meetings, and make compelling presentations
•Successful track record of accepting complex assignments, scoping them, and successfully delivering stellar results with high degree of independence
•Creativity to bring to life advanced concepts and ideas in clear, dynamic, and innovative ways
•Experience building arguments and a point of view using sound research practices and data analysis
•High proficiency (5+ years working experience) in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint and Excel in particular)
•Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, business management, or related fields from a leading University
•Ability to speak other language(s) a plus
