Jaguar signals brand transformation with new electric concept car

Jaguar claim this new identity and visual language are symbols of change that respect the past and inspire what’s to come.

Jaguar has unveiled its Type 00 concept car at Miami Art Week, previewing the automaker’s transition to an all-electric luxury brand. The concept vehicle, whose name references both zero emissions and its position as the first in a new lineage, showcases the company’s future design direction.
The four-door GT concept features distinctive elements including butterfly doors, a panoramic glass roof, and 23-inch alloy wheels. It employs a new dedicated electric platform called JEA (Jaguar Electrical Architecture), which the company says was developed specifically to enable the vehicle’s proportions.

“The magic of Jaguar is close to my heart – an original British luxury brand unmatched in its heritage, artistry and emotional magnetism,” says Adrian Mardell, Chief Executive Officer of JLR. “That’s the Jaguar we are recapturing and we will create the same sense of awe that surrounded iconic models like the E type.”

The Type 00’s exterior design includes a long hood, fastback profile, and boat tail rear. Technical features include deployable side cameras housed in brass ingots bearing the Jaguar ‘leaper’ emblem, hidden charging ports, and concealed front air intakes. The interior features dual floating instrument panels and decorative brass elements, including a 3.2-meter spine running the length of the cabin.
The concept previews Jaguar’s first production electric vehicle, scheduled for reveal in late 2025. The company states the production model will target a driving range of up to 770km (478 miles) under WLTP testing or 430 miles (692km) EPA. Fast-charging capability is expected to add up to 321km (200 miles) of range in 15 minutes.

“We have forged a fearlessly creative new character for Jaguar that is true to the DNA of the brand but future facing, relevant and one that really stands out,” says Rawdon Glover, Managing Director of Jaguar.

The brand’s retail strategy will also evolve, with plans to open exclusive brand stores globally. The first location will be in Paris’s 8th arrondissement, complemented by a network of luxury retailers.
The Type 00 made its public debut at Miami Art Week alongside two exhibitions: Jaguar Exuberance at Art Miami, featuring works by British artists, and a Copy Nothing installation in the Miami Design District. The latter references company founder Sir William Lyons’ philosophy that Jaguar should be a “copy of nothing” and that its cars should be considered as artforms.
The concept’s unveiling marks a significant step in Jaguar’s transformation into an electric-only luxury brand, with production of the first new-generation vehicle planned to take place in the UK.
