Hilton hotels partner with Ionity for major EV charging network

Twenty-four high-powered chargers installed at DoubleTree by Hilton Dartford Bridge begins long-term partnership to install EV charging hubs at five more Hilton DoubleTree locations across the UK

Ionity has launched its largest UK EV charging site at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dartford Bridge, installing 24 ultra-rapid 350kW chargers. The development marks the start of a partnership with property firm Henderson Park to roll out charging stations across its Hilton hotel portfolio.

The Dartford site is the first of six DoubleTree locations to receive Ionity chargers, with installations planned at hotels in Newbury North, Coventry, Bristol North, Edinburgh Airport, and Glasgow Strathclyde. The complete project will deliver 104 public rapid chargers across these locations.

“Partnering with Ionity is a huge step towards guaranteeing cutting-edge EV charging right across our DoubleTree by Hilton portfolio,” says Peter Stack, CEO of Henderson Park-owned Klarent Hospitality. “It’s crucial for us to futureproof our hotels against both the evolving needs of travellers and hotel guests, and our sustainability commitments.”

The chargers can power vehicles from 10% to 80% in under 15 minutes, using entirely renewable energy from wind, solar, and hydroelectric sources. Hotel facilities, including restaurants and leisure amenities, will be available to all charging customers.

“Through partnerships like this that expand our ultra-rapid charging network, we can make long-distance EV travel more accessible, convenient, and reliable for all drivers,” said Andreas Atkins, Ionity’s Country Manager for UK & Ireland.

The initiative supports Ionity’s plan to triple its UK charging stations by 2025, aligning with government targets for 80% of new car sales to be electric by 2030.
