The all-new CLA boasts advanced technology and AI-powered operating systems

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the all-new CLA, described as the most intelligent vehicle the company has ever produced and the first in a completely new family of cars. The model debuts with a fully electric version, with hybrid variants to follow later in the year.

The CLA is the first vehicle to fully operate on the in-house developed Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), featuring a supercomputer connected to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud. This system enables regular over-the-air updates for most vehicle functions, including driving assistance systems for the first time.

The fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) integrates artificial intelligence from both Microsoft and Google, combining multiple AI agents in one system. The new MBUX Virtual Assistant uses generative AI to enable complex conversations powered by ChatGPT4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini.

Navigation in the new CLA is based on Google Maps, with Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence planning routes including charging stops. The system also features MBUX Surround Navigation, which provides a 3D representation of the surroundings and route guidance in real-time.

The first electric models coming to market are the CLA 250+ with EQ Technology and the CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology. The CLA 250+ offers a range of up to 792 kilometers (WLTP), while the CLA 350 4MATIC serves as the performance version with 260 kW.

The 800-volt electric architecture allows for fast charging, with the CLA 250+ able to recharge to a range of up to 325 kilometers within ten minutes. Fast DC charging with up to 320 kW is available for both electric models.

The new battery generation features increased energy density and a reduced carbon footprint. According to Mercedes-Benz, the carbon footprint is reduced by about 30 percent per cell compared to its predecessor, thanks to carbon reduction measures and the use of electricity from renewable sources in production.

Design-wise, the CLA features athletic proportions with a long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a powerful GT rear. The optional MULTIBEAM LED headlights take the form of a Mercedes-Benz star, while the taillights are also star-shaped and connected by an illuminated design element.

Inside, the CLA offers a minimalist interior focused on three high-tech elements, including the optional floating MBUX Superscreen that extends across the entire width of the interior. All models come standard with a panoramic roof that extends from the windscreen frame to the rear.

Hybrid models with 48-volt technology will follow later in the year, offering the choice between front-wheel drive and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. These models can drive on electric power alone at urban speeds and recover up to 25 kW of energy through recuperation.
