Saudi EV brand Ceer partners with Rimac for high-performance eDrive systems

The collaboration suggests Rimac is moving from limited-volume, bespoke vehicles to larger mass-produced projects.

Saudi Arabian electric vehicle manufacturer Ceer has partnered with Croatia’s Rimac Technology to develop high-performance electric drive systems, marking Rimac’s first venture in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony at Rimac’s headquarters in Croatia on October 17th, attended by Rimac Technology CEO Mate Rimac and Ceer Motors CEO James DeLuca.

“We are delighted to be the first company and large-scale project in the GCC to partner with Rimac Technology,” said DeLuca. “Rimac’s global reputation and know-how in designing leading edge performance powertrain systems aligns perfectly with our strategic objectives of delivering world-class electric vehicles and revolutionizing the automotive industry in Saudi Arabia.”

The partnership represents a significant shift for Rimac Technology, expanding beyond its traditional focus on limited-volume, high-performance applications. The company’s previous work includes components for vehicles such as the Rimac Nevera, Pininfarina Battista, Aston Martin Valkyrie, and Koenigsegg Regera.

Earlier this year, Rimac Technology announced a long-term collaboration with BMW Group to supply high-voltage battery systems and has secured multiple agreements with European automotive manufacturers.

“The collaboration with Ceer further solidifies Rimac Technology’s global electrification ambitions,” said Mate Rimac. “This year alone we’ve announced several key partnerships, including with BMW Group and Ceer, which will result in the production of tens of thousands of electric drive systems and battery systems for leading OEMs worldwide.”

Rimac has invested in expanding its production facilities in Croatia, including the Rimac Campus, to meet growing demand. The companies will release additional details about the partnership’s scope at a later date.
