Stellantis Pro One has commenced production of its Cargo Box BEV at the Atessa plant in Italy, where the company manufactures large vans for its Citroën, Fiat Professional, Opel, Peugeot, and Vauxhall brands. The company maintains over 30% market share in the European light commercial vehicle segment.
The electric Cargo Box offers 18.3 cubic meters of cargo capacity with interior dimensions of 4,230 mm length, 2,032 mm width, and 2,150 mm height. Built on a battery-electric chassis cab platform, the vehicle delivers 410 Nm of torque and 200 kW (270 hp) of power, powered by a 110 kWh battery providing up to 323 kilometers of driving range. An L4 configuration will also be available, expanding cargo volume to 20.5 cubic meters with 4,500 mm internal length and 2,300 mm height.
Stellantis Pro One has introduced 22kW AC charging as standard equipment across its large van range. The enhanced charging capability allows complete overnight charging in six hours, compared to the previous 11kW system that required 12 hours.
The Atessa plant spans over 1.2 million square meters and operates as Europe’s largest facility dedicated exclusively to light commercial vehicles. The facility exports 80% of its production to 75 countries worldwide and can handle over 1,200 different vehicle configurations with 15 kilometers of assembly lines.
The plant serves as a hub for Stellantis CustomFit, a conversion and customization program that involves 50% of Stellantis Pro One commercial vehicle production. The program works with over 550 certified partners globally to provide converted vehicles through dealer networks.
In 2024, Stellantis recorded a 25% increase in conversions with certified partners and doubled the number of customized units for large fleets produced in-house, with 35% growth in converted vehicle sales across Europe.
“The launch of the Cargo Box BEV confirms the path of excellence of this plant dedicated to proactively and quickly meeting the needs of our professional customers, according to the principles of efficiency, maximum quality, and time to market,” said Anne Abboud, Head of Stellantis Pro One division.
Arnaud Leclerc, Global Head of Stellantis CustomFit, noted that the company’s direct production capacity is “integrated and expanded by a global network of 550 authorized partners who interact with our official network, thus ensuring an extremely widespread network of touchpoints.”
The company also announced plans for a fully electric version dedicated to recreational vehicles, building on its position in the caravan and motorhome market where it has sold over 2 million campers in the past 20 years.
