Renault to supply Carlsberg with fleet of electric delivery trucks

Renault has announced a contract with the Carlsberg Group that will see it deliver 20 of its fully-electric trucks to enable zero-emission delivery of its products within urban environments such as city centers.

As urban transportation is rapidly moving towards electrification in an effort to improve air quality and tackle global CO2 emissions, Renault’s agreement will contribute to reducing those produced from commercial vehicles.

It will deliver 20 D Wide Z.E 100% electric 26-ton trucks in 2020, and they will be operated by the Feldschlösschen brewery, the Group’s Swiss subsidiary.

“It is the first order of this scale in Europe. It proves to our customers that the transport sector is undergoing a major transformation and reflects an industrial and commercial reality: our Renault Trucks electric trucks are rolling off the assembly line and will be on the roads of Europe in a few weeks’ time,” said Bruno Blin, president of Renault Trucks.

The 20 Renault Trucks D Wide Z.E. will make daily delivery rounds of between 100 and 200 km to supply Feldschlösschen Swiss clients from the brewer’s 15 logistical sites in Switzerland.

Renault Trucks D and D Wide Z.E. are produced at the manufacturer’s plant in Blainville-sur-Orne (Calvados, France). They employ two 370kW electric motors and a 200kWh lithium-ion battery that produces 850Nm torque.

The manufacturer has made in-roads for commercial vehicle electrification and produces a range of electric trucks ranging from 3.1 to 26 tons. Operating in urban environments, these vehicles are ideally suited to waste collection and distribution operations, enabling noiseless rounds at unconventional hours at the same time as preserving quality of life for local residents.
