The solution empowers companies across industries like EVs, aviation, and grid storage to innovate in electrification initiatives.

Leading battery modeling software company About:Energy announced a groundbreaking technology demonstrator for battery management systems (BMS) developed in collaboration with STMicroelectronics. This integration of About:Energy’s Voltt battery data with STMicroelectronics’ automotive solutions aims to enable companies to develop safe, efficient, and cost-effective BMS in-house.

The new offering addresses the traditionally time-consuming and expensive BMS development process by merging About:Energy’s validated battery data across various chemistries with STMicroelectronics’ AutoDevKit platform. This integration streamlines design cycles, protects intellectual property, accelerates BMS prototyping, and provides comprehensive solutions for safety monitoring, efficiency optimization, state of charge assessment, and fast charging.

The integrated BMS solution demonstrated its capabilities at the Plug and Play EXPO2024 in Stuttgart on June 6th, where it received the Global Innovation Award. This accolade highlights the system’s potential impact on the industry.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with STMicroelectronics, a renowned leader shaping the future of automotive electronics,” said Gavin White, co-founder and CEO of About:Energy. “By fusing our expertise in battery modeling with their cutting-edge hardware and software, we are empowering companies of all sizes and across industries from electric vehicles, aviation, grid storage, and more, to unleash new levels of safety, efficiency, and performance in their electrification initiatives.”

STMicroelectronics supports BMS technology by combining its automotive solutions with About:Energy’s innovative models. This partnership enables companies to transform their electrification visions into reality while safeguarding their intellectual property. The collaboration promises to advance the development and implementation of BMS technologies, providing a robust platform for innovation across multiple sectors. The successful integration and recognition at the Plug and Play EXPO2024 mark a significant milestone in the journey towards enhanced battery management solutions.
