BYD launches Dolphin Cargo e-van in UK with 347-mile city range, 1,093-litre load space and 60.4kWh Blade Battery.

BYD has launched the Dolphin Cargo e-van in the UK, a light commercial vehicle conversion of its Dolphin hatchback offering 347 miles WLTP city range and 1,093 litres of load space. The UK-converted CDV uses a 60.4kWh Blade Battery and 204PS motor, priced from £29,358 excluding VAT.

BYD has launched the Dolphin Cargo e-van in the UK, a light commercial vehicle (LCV) conversion of the manufacturer’s Dolphin hatchback offering a WLTP city range of 347 miles and combined range of 265 miles.

The conversion from passenger car to LCV is carried out in the UK. The rear seats are permanently removed and a full metal bulkhead installed behind the front seats, freeing up 1,093 litres of load capacity – including a 47-litre underfloor storage compartment – within the vehicle’s 4,290mm overall length.

Maximum load length is 1,250mm, with a minimum load width between the wheel arches of 1,018mm and a maximum width of 1,160mm. Maximum load height is 710mm. The flat load floor uses phenolic ply trim, complemented by a modular subframe, hardwearing door cards and bumper protection film. Optional rear window security panels in polycarbonate are also available.

The vehicle uses a 204PS electric motor paired with a 60.4kWh battery. At the heart of the vehicle is BYD’s Blade Battery, which uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry and contains no cobalt. The chemistry is designed to deliver improved durability, safety and tolerance of extreme temperatures compared with conventional battery technologies. An optional 70mph speed limiter is available to support fleet energy management.

Specification is based on the Dolphin Comfort trim level. Standard equipment includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the car-derived van (CDV) to power external equipment such as mobile servicing tools, portable lighting and on-site charging without an additional power source. A heat pump, heated steering wheel and heated front seats – which improve battery efficiency by warming the driver rather than the load – are also standard, alongside a 360-degree parking camera and smartphone mirroring via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

BYD says it can facilitate bespoke upfit solutions including reversing alarms, amber warning beacons, vehicle livery and customized storage configurations.

The Dolphin Cargo e-van is available to order now through participating UK BYD retailers, priced from £29,358 excluding VAT (£36,305 including VAT). Fleet support is available via the BYD UK Corporate Sales Team.
