Citroën has joined forces with surf lifestyle company Rip Curl to unveil the Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision, a concept car designed specifically for young surfers seeking escape and mobility.

The partnership comes as Citroën sponsors the international finals of the Rip Curl GromSearch, running from November 4 to 8 near Hossegor, France. The competition showcases surfing champions under 16, making it the perfect stage for a vehicle that teenagers can legally drive from age 14 without a license.

“We are extremely delighted to renew our partnership with Citroën, a collaboration that began in 2015 and has given rise to numerous inspiring projects,” said Mathieu Lefin, President of Rip Curl Europe. The new concept car highlights both brands’ commitment to sustainability, featuring floor mats made from recycled surf wetsuits.

The collaboration between the French automaker and the surf brand dates back to 2016, when they launched their first special edition C4 Cactus. Since then, the partnership has expanded to include multiple vehicle models, each celebrating a lifestyle centered on adventure and well-being.

The Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision captures the surfer spirit through thoughtful design choices. The vehicle sports a striking purple body contrasted with a white sunroof, black canvas, and matching black spoiler. White LED lighting ensures visibility during early morning surf sessions or late evening beach runs.

Inside, eco-designed cushioned seat pads feature Rip Curl-inspired motifs, while purple dashboard storage bins echo the exterior color scheme. But the real innovation lies in the accessories tailored for surfing life: roof and side mounts for surfboards, a portable shower and changing mat, waterproof bags for wet gear, and even a banana pouch that attaches to the steering wheel for convenient storage.

“Together, we share the same vision focused on adventure, style, and freedom, designed for younger generations,” said Xavier Chardon, CEO of Citroën. “Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision embodies the free spirit and creativity that unite the two brands.”

During competition week, Citroën will provide a fleet of vehicles for participant transfers and offer test drives, giving young surfers a taste of accessible electric mobility. The concept car will be displayed at opening and closing ceremonies throughout the event, marking what both brands promise is just the beginning of their renewed partnership.
