Dacia Duster and Bigster to add hybrid 150 4×4 powertrain option

Dacia to offer hybrid 150 4x4 powertrain on Duster and Bigster, combining 48V mild hybrid tech with AWD and dual-clutch auto gearbox.

Dacia will add a hybrid 150 4×4 powertrain to its Duster and Bigster SUVs in the UK later in 2026. The system combines a 48V mild hybrid with EV capability, 150 hp combustion engine and six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Dacia will introduce a hybrid 150 4×4 powertrain on both its Duster and Bigster SUVs in the UK later this year, combining a 48V mild hybrid system with all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox.

The Romanian manufacturer, part of Renault Group, says the new powertrain will feature EV driving capability and deliver 150 hp and 230 Nm from the combustion engine, supplemented by an additional 87 Nm from the electric motor.

Power is sent through a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox fitted with paddle shifters for manual override. Dacia says the system is designed to offer a balance of electrified efficiency and off-road traction across its two SUV models.

The new generation 48V mild hybrid setup represents an expansion of the powertrain options available on both vehicles, which are already offered in other drivetrain configurations. Full UK specifications, pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed but the company expects to launch the variant before the end of 2026.

Dacia positions Duster as the best-selling SUV to European private customers since 2018, while the newer Bigster targets the larger family SUV segment. The addition of a hybrid all-wheel-drive option broadens the appeal of both models for buyers seeking electrified drivetrains without moving to a fully electric vehicle.

No further technical details – such as battery capacity, fuel economy figures or CO2 emissions – have been released at this stage.
