Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its Concept Three compact EV at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, marking the automaker’s first compact EV concept under its Ioniq sub-brand. The debut represents Hyundai’s expansion into a new vehicle category as it seeks to complement its existing midsize and large electric models.
“Returning to IAA Mobility after four years away is a true milestone, and such as occasion deserves a milestone car,” said Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe. “Concept Three represents the next step in Hyundai Motor’s electrification journey. With its compact dimensions and Art of Steel design language, it embodies our vision of delivering mobility that is practical, accessible and emotionally resonant.”
Notable design elements include Parametric Pixel lighting on both front and rear sections, featuring gradient pixels that add visual depth. The vehicle’s Aero Hatch profile combines aerodynamic efficiency with a distinctive roofline and vertical tailgate designed for urban use. Hyundai emphasizes sustainability in the concept’s interior, envisioning the use of ocean waste textiles and lightweight aluminum foam materials. The company aims to reduce environmental impact while maintaining design quality.
Europe represents a strategic market for Hyundai’s electrification plans, with nearly 80 percent of vehicles sold in the region manufactured locally. The company targets offering an electrified version of every model in Europe by 2027 and plans to release 21 global EV models by 2030.
At IAA Mobility 2025, Hyundai returned to Europe’s largest mobility event for the first time in four years. The company established a 58-meter-wide booth in Munich’s city center featuring six oversized glass pixels inspired by its Parametric Pixel design element. The display showcases seven electrified models and offers test drives for nine different models, including the Kona Electric, Ioniq 5, and Ioniq 9.
The event, expected to draw over 500,000 visitors from 110 countries, has evolved from a traditional motor show to a city-wide event spanning Munich’s exhibition halls to open spaces in the city center.
