Nissan reveals all-electric Juke at Vision event, with UK production at Sunderland and a spring 2027 European launch confirmed.

Nissan has unveiled an all-electric third-generation Juke at its Vision event in Japan. The compact crossover will be built at the company’s Sunderland plant in the UK, with trial production starting soon and a European launch set for spring 2027. The electric Juke will feature vehicle-to-grid technology.

Nissan has revealed the third-generation Juke as a fully electric vehicle, with production planned at its Sunderland plant in the UK and a European launch scheduled for spring 2027.

The compact crossover, unveiled at the automaker’s Vision event at its global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan, is the first Juke to feature a battery-electric powertrain. The model will offer vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology, joining the third-generation Leaf as the second Nissan EV in Europe to support bidirectional charging.

“Europe is central to Nissan’s electrification strategy, and we remain firmly committed to a fully electric future,” says Massimiliano Messina, chairman of Nissan AMIEO. “With a rapidly expanding EV line-up, we are bringing greater choice and innovation to every segment, powered by our strong design, engineering and manufacturing footprint in the region. Together, this next generation of vehicles will accelerate our transition to zero-emission mobility.”

The electric Juke joins a European EV lineup that includes the new Micra, third-generation Leaf, Ariya crossover and Townstar light commercial vehicle (LCV), with an A-segment electric model also planned. Nissan says it will continue to offer its e-Power hybrid technology alongside its electric range, with hybrid variants of the Qashqai and Juke remaining in the lineup.

Since its original launch in 2010, the Juke has sold 1.5 million units across Europe. The Tokyo-based automaker says the Sunderland plant, already home to Leaf production, will begin trial-phase manufacturing of the electric Juke in the coming weeks.

“JUKE has always stood for bold design and a willingness to challenge convention. With this third generation, we are bringing that spirit into the electric age,” says Clíodhna Lyons, region vice president, product, brand and marketing strategy at Nissan AMIEO. “As our first fully electric JUKE, it will help us reach new customers while expanding choice across our electrified range.”

Nissan’s European operations span design, engineering and development facilities across the UK, Spain and Germany.
