Nio ES7

Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio has launched its ES7, an SUV with high-end sports car performance and a VR entertainment system that transforms the interior into a cinema-like experience.

The Nio ES7, inherits the second generation high-efficiency e-drive platform with the SiC power module providing 0 to 62mph (100 km/h) acceleration within 3.9 seconds. It is the company’s fastest-ever SUV. It comes in three different powertrain options: the 75 kWh Standard Range Battery offering 485 km, the 100 kWh Long Range Battery for 620 km, and over 930 km with the 150 kWh Ultralong Range Battery.

ES7 is one of the first certified passenger vehicles in China to be able to tow a caravan or a trailer. The optional electric tow bar has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kg. In addition, ES7 can supply power to towed equipment.

AR and VR technology can offer a cinema-like experience in the cabin

NIO ES7’s interior offers what it calls a “second living room” with in-car entertainment that can put home setups to shame. NIO ES7 comes standard with PanoCinema, the AR/VR compatible digital cockpit system. NIO and NREAL, an AR device company, developed custom AR glasses that can project an effective 201in screen at six meters. Coupled with the 256-color digital waterfall ambient lighting and the 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos surround sound system. It means occupants can turn their car into a cinema with passengers being able to be entertained on the move.
