Porsche has unveiled the interior of its new Cayenne Electric, featuring what the company calls the Flow Display – the largest screen system ever installed in a Porsche vehicle. The curved OLED display integrates into the center console and forms part of a continuous digital surface that includes a 14.25-inch instrument cluster and an optional 14.9-inch passenger display.
“Our goal was to combine quintessential Cayenne characteristics and the newly developed display surfaces with the features of the new ‘Porsche Digital Interaction’ into a harmonious overall package. One that’s innovative, forward-thinking and meticulously thought through down to the finest detail,” says Markus Auerbach, Director Interior Design at Style Porsche.
The electric SUV includes standard electrically adjustable rear seats and introduces what Porsche calls Mood Modes, which coordinate lighting, climate control, sound and seat settings. A panoramic roof with Variable Light Control uses liquid crystal film to switch between clear and opaque settings, with two intermediate transparency levels at 40 and 60 percent opacity.
Surface heating extends beyond the seats to armrests and door panel sections. The system is designed to distribute warmth more evenly than conventional air heating. An augmented reality head-up display is available as an option, projecting navigation information with an effective display size of 87 inches.
“The aim of redesigning the screens’ digital content was to create an even more immersive and intense connection between driver and sports car,” says Ivo van Hulten, Director Driver Experience at Style Porsche.
The vehicle includes an AI-powered voice assistant that processes instructions without requiring repeated use of an activation word. The system controls climate, seat heating, ambient lighting and Mood Modes through voice commands, and recognizes addresses and points of interest in natural language. It can also access streaming services and radio stations.
A digital key system uses Ultra Wideband technology to automatically lock and unlock the vehicle as smartphones or smartwatches approach or leave. The digital key stores in the Wallet app and can be shared with up to seven users.
