Volvo Car UK has launched the EX30 Cargo, an electric car-derived van based on its EX30 compact SUV. The conversion replaces rear seats with a flat load floor offering 1,000 liters of space and 390 kg payload. Powertrain options range from 150 hp to 428 hp, priced from £36,010.
Volvo Car UK has launched the EX30 Cargo, a car-derived van based on its fully electric EX30 compact SUV, targeting business and fleet customers.
The two-seat commercial vehicle is created through a second-stage conversion carried out by Volvo Car UK, in which the rear seats are removed and replaced with a flat floor and access panel to the lower floor. A payload bulkhead separates the cabin from the cargo area, while modified rear side panels and doors increase load volume. The result is a 390 kg payload capacity and 1,000 liters of load space.
The EX30 Cargo is available in two variants: a standard model and a Cross Country Cargo version with additional ground clearance. Both can be ordered new or converted from existing stock across model year 2026 and 2027 vehicles.
“While we are best known for our passenger vehicles, we recognise that business owners and fleets also want the quality, safety and technology that Volvo is renowned for in a compact commercial vehicle too, which is why we created the extremely practical EX30 Cargo,” says Jack Munford, head of fleet at Volvo Car UK.
Powertrain options span three tiers: a P3 (150 hp) Extended Range unit offering up to 300 miles of range — new for model year 2027 — a P5 (272 hp) available in both standard and Extended Range form, and a P8 (428 hp) all-wheel-drive variant. Charging is handled by a three-phase 11 kW onboard charger with heat pump as standard.
Practical additions for commercial use include extended rear door access for wider opening during loading, a cargo work light for the load area, and an underfloor subframe with extra securing and mounting points.
Two trim levels are offered: Core and Plus, along with a Cross Country Plus. Standard equipment on the Core includes adaptive cruise control, front and rear park assist with camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Automotive Services, and 18-inch aero alloy wheels. The Plus trim adds Pilot Assist, a Harman Kardon sound system, heated front seats and steering wheel, two-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The EX30 Cargo is priced from £36,010 on the road for the P5 standard range model and is available exclusively through Volvo Car UK’s fleet sales channels.
