Alpine introduces latest all-electric model to Dream Garage range

The Alpine 390 GTS

Alpine has unveiled the second all-electric model in its Dream Garage range, the A390, a five-seat sport fastback designed to match the performance of the A110.

Available in Q4 2025, design and manufacturing is taking place at Alpine’s historic Dieppe facility, the Manufacture Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé, maintaining the brand’s French heritage. The A390_β show car, presented at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, revealed 85% of the final production design, providing an accurate preview of proportions, silhouette, and lighting signature.

“Someone once said that life begins at 70, and that could well be true for Alpine with the arrival of this second model in the Dream Garage, one of seven electric models expected by 2030. In 2025, the Alpine A390 reminds the world that the soul matters more than software. For a car lover like me, it’s hard to imagine anything more exciting than reviving a legendary brand and projecting it into new territories, showing that the original recipe is more relevant than ever,” says Luca de Meo, Renault Group CEO.

Design and manufacturing of the A390 is taking place at Alpine’s historic Dieppe facility

The A390 showcases a distinctive Alpine design from multiple viewing distances. Its coupé proportions are recognisable from 110 metres away, featuring a helmet visor-shaped rear window and compact glazed surfaces. At closer inspection, sculpted lines animate the rear doors with integrated handles, while detailed elements like mountain-inspired triangular front bumper shapes and aerodynamic air curtain openings become visible at 110 millimetres.

Aerodynamic efficiency has been central to the design process, with every detail contributing to maximising electric range. The vehicle features a 17-degree roof angle, rear wheel ‘flaps’, guided air passages at the wheels, and an 8-degree diffuser angle inspired by Le Mans Daytona hybrid prototypes. A discreet black spoiler integrated into the rear window base completes the aerodynamic package.

The A390 will be offered in two performance variants. The GT version produces 400hp and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 200km/h. The more powerful GTS variant produces 470hp with up to 808Nm of maximum torque, achieving 0-100km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 220km/h.

A key technical innovation is the Alpine Active Torque Vectoring system, which utilises two independent rear motors to provide precise wheel control. This system delivers varying torque to each rear wheel based on steering angle and vehicle speed, correcting slip differences and adjusting torque distribution to address understeer or oversteer conditions. The technology responds within milliseconds and operates during acceleration, cornering, and straight-line driving.

The interior maintains Alpine’s driver-focused approach with a blue colour theme consistent with the A290 model. The dashboard, centre console, and door panels feature leather coating with ambient lighting. Drivers face 12.3-inch and 12-inch high-definition screens, while physical climate controls allow adjustments without diverting attention from the road.

The heated sport steering wheel, wrapped in Nappa Bleu leather with a flat bottom design, integrates controls for driving modes, driver assistance, and communication systems. Two Formula 1-inspired coloured aluminium buttons control specific functions: a blue rotary knob for regeneration levels up to One Pedal mode, and a red overtake button for additional power delivery.

The high centre console incorporates Alpine’s characteristic RND transmission controls with customisable wings. Electrically adjustable and heated Alpine Sport seats provide support and comfort, manufactured from various materials including Alcantara microfibre. Top-specification models feature blue and grey Nappa leather Alpine Sport Seats by Sabelt with optional carbon twill or forged carbon inserts.

Practical considerations include five doors for easy access, supportive rear seating for two passengers during spirited driving, and a generous 532-litre boot capacity that can be expanded with an optional double floor configuration.

The overtake function, activated via the red steering wheel button, provides extra power for up to 10 seconds, requiring a 30-second recharge period before full power becomes available again. After 15 seconds, a reduced five-second boost can be accessed. This motorsport and gaming-inspired feature is patented and displays animations on both the instrument panel and central Alpine Telemetrics screen during activation.

Additional performance features include launch control functionality for optimal standing start acceleration. The system is activated in Sport mode by placing feet on both pedals, pressing the overtake button, then releasing the brake, accompanied by instrument panel animations and specific audio cues.

The A390 incorporates the latest generation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with realistic dashboard displays of the vehicle’s surroundings. New features include driver attention monitoring with progressive emergency braking, extended automatic emergency braking for reverse situations, lane departure warnings, and safe exit assistance for occupants during parking. A My Safety button allows drivers to customise ADAS settings, intervention levels, and alert preferences with a single touch.

The vehicle utilises a platform sourced from Ampere and includes Mobilize Power Solutions charging services, featuring bidirectional V2G charging capability as part of a comprehensive electric ecosystem. Manual battery preconditioning can be activated from the central display to optimise performance for intensive use or cool temperatures after track sessions.
