InfiMotion targets commercial vehicles with new charging division

InfiMotion will showcase its capabilities in high-voltage systems, integrated electric drive units, power electronics, software and system integration, including the TP501 ultra-light 900V coaxial dual-drive system.

InfiMotion Technology is expanding its electric drivetrain business into commercial and heavy-duty vehicles and launching EV charging products for Europe. At IAA Transportation 2026, the Gothenburg-based supplier will showcase its TP501 dual-drive system and the IPC320 DC fast charger, building on partnerships with JLR, Polestar, Volvo Cars and Geely.

InfiMotion Technology, headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, is expanding its electric drivetrain business into commercial and heavy-duty vehicles, and moving into electric vehicle (EV) charging, the company announced ahead of IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany.

The supplier, which has grown from 40 to more than 100 employees in Sweden over two years and now employs more than 8,000 people worldwide, said it plans to apply its passenger-car drivetrain technology to light commercial and heavy-duty vehicles.

According to Albert Pettersson, chief executive of InfiMotion Technology, European original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are under pressure to shorten development cycles. “Our model combines the speed, scale and cost efficiency we have built in China with software development and customer engineering close to European OEMs,” he says. “We have already proven that model for passenger car and light duty commercial customers, and we see significant potential to bring the same approach to the complete commercial vehicle segment.”

InfiMotion supplies electric drivetrains to more than 25 automotive OEMs, including JLR, Polestar, Lotus, Lynk & Co, Geely Auto and Volvo Cars. In the first half of 2026, the company ranked among China’s top three suppliers by shipments of electric motors and inverters.

The company expects to manufacture 3 million electric motors, 1.5 million complete electric drive units and 1.3 million inverters in 2026, across seven manufacturing facilities in China. It runs research and development operations in Sweden and China, and is exploring future localization in Europe with partners.

At IAA Transportation, InfiMotion will show its TP501 ultra-light 900V coaxial dual-drive system, X-in-1 technology and inverters, with a focus on commercial and heavy-duty vehicle applications.

“Only four years ago, many of the large manufacturers were convinced they needed to develop their electric drivetrains themselves,” Pettersson says. “That is changing quite clearly. The technology is developing so quickly that it is difficult to keep up, while developing everything in-house can also become significantly more expensive. We can provide mature technology, industrial scale and a development speed that is difficult to match.”

The company is also entering the EV charging market. Its first product for Europe, the IPC320, is an all-in-one direct current (DC) fast charger for public charging stations, corporate parking lots and logistics centers, with rated power options up to 320 kW and a modular design supporting upgrades across power levels. It also includes Plug & Charge functionality, multiple payment options and a cable management system.

InfiMotion’s wider charging offering covers planning, equipment supply, deployment, operations and maintenance across highway, commercial property and residential sites.

InfiMotion is exhibiting at Hall 20, Stand D44 at IAA Transportation, which runs September 14–20. The company will also appear alongside Geely Holding at the Paris Motor Show, October 12–18.
