Isuzu UK launches the D-Max EV at CV Show 2026 – UK's first electric pick-up with 1-tonne payload, 163-mile range and 3.5-tonne towing.

Isuzu UK has unveiled the D-Max EV at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026 — the UK’s first fully electric pick-up with over 1-tonne payload and 3.5-tonne towing. Powered by a 66.9 kWh battery and dual motors producing 149.3 kW, it delivers 163 miles of WLTP combined range. UK deliveries begin May 2026, priced from £59,995 ex. VAT.

Isuzu UK unveiled the D-Max Electric Vehicle (EV) in right-hand drive at the Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show 2026 in Birmingham on April 21, marking the UK debut of the first fully electric pick-up truck to offer over 1-tonne payload, 3.5-tonne towing capacity and permanent four-wheel drive. UK deliveries are scheduled to commence in May 2026.

The D-Max EV is powered by a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery and two permanent magnet synchronised motors — a 45.9 kW/115 Nm unit at the front axle and a 103.4 kW/232.6 Nm unit at the rear — producing a combined output of 149.3 kW and 347.6 Nm of torque. The vehicle accelerates from 0–62 mph in 10.1 seconds, with a top speed of 84 mph. WLTP-rated range stands at 163.2 miles combined and 223.9 miles in city driving.

Maximum payload is rated at 1,060 kg and braked towing capacity at 3,500 kg, giving a gross train weight of 6,000 kg. Built on a strengthened ladder chassis, the D-Max EV features a new De-Dion semi-independent rear suspension system said to reduce cabin noise and vibration under full acceleration by up to 10%. Ground clearance is 210 mm, wading depth is 600 mm, and approach and departure angles are 30.5 and 24.2 degrees respectively. A Rough Terrain Mode is included as standard across all variants.

Alan Able, managing director at Isuzu UK, said: “The New Isuzu D-Max EV arrives in the UK, and for the first time in its segment provides the option of a fully electric pick-up with class-leading commercial capabilities. The new electric vehicle assures the reliability, comfort and versatility of the D-Max while supporting commercial operators aiming towards decarbonisation. This is an exciting moment for both Isuzu UK and hardworking commercial and fleet operations in many environments: The New Isuzu D-Max EV combines the work-ready toughness, durability and presence expected of the Isuzu D-Max with a zero emissions electric vehicle for the first time.”

The truck supports AC charging at up to 11 kW, enabling a full charge in six hours from a three-phase public supply, and direct current (DC) rapid charging at up to 50 kW, reaching 80% state of charge in approximately one hour. Home charging via a single-phase 7 kW connection takes around 10 hours from empty.

Prior to the right-hand drive launch, Isuzu UK trialled a left-hand drive version of the D-Max EV in partnership with National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) across challenging UK terrains, including towing and winching operations.

The D-Max EV is offered in two trim levels — eDL40 and eV-Cross — each available in Extended Cab and Double Cab configurations. The eDL40 Extended Cab is priced at £59,995 (ex. VAT), the eDL40 Double Cab at £60,995 (ex. VAT), and the eV-Cross Double Cab at £62,495 (ex. VAT). Standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, Bi-LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a 7-inch driver information display and leather-appointed upholstery. The eDL40 carries an 8-inch infotainment system and six-speaker audio; the eV-Cross upgrades to a 9-inch system, eight-speaker audio and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

All models carry a five-year/125,000-mile vehicle warranty, five years of EU and UK roadside assistance, and an eight-year/125,000-mile battery warranty.
