Jaguar Type 01 debuts on 850V Jaguar Electric Architecture with 1,000PS and 400-mile range

Jaguar's Type 01 electric GT debuts on the new JEA platform with 1,000PS, 850V charging and 400-mile EPA range. Orders open in 2027.

Jaguar unveiled Type 01 on October 6, 2026, in New York. The four-door electric grand tourer is the first production model on Jaguar Electric Architecture, with more than 1,000PS, an 850V system, a 400-mile EPA range and 200 miles added in 13 minutes at 350kW. Orders open early 2027, priced from £130,000.

UK-based automaker Jaguar has unveiled Type 01, a four-door electric grand tourer (GT) and the first production vehicle built on its dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) platform. The car was revealed at an event in New York on October 6.

Type 01 produces more than 1,000 metric horsepower (PS), or roughly 735kW, and runs on an 850V electrical architecture. Jaguar quotes a range of 400 miles on the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cycle. With 350kW DC fast charging, the company says the car can add 200 miles of range in 13 minutes.

Jaguar has not yet released details of the battery pack’s capacity or chemistry, the motor configuration, vehicle weight or acceleration figures.

JEA is a dedicated platform that Jaguar says allows a new approach to vehicle proportions and occupant experience. Type 01 has been designed, developed and will be built in the UK. Jaguar describes it as its most aerodynamic road car to date, although it has not published a drag coefficient. The design uses a low roofline and long hood, and the company cites the E-type and XJS as reference points.

According to Rawdon Glover, managing director at Jaguar, the model forms the basis of the brand’s next generation of vehicles. “From its dramatic design to its captivating drive, Type 01 distils the essence of Jaguar into a luxury grand tourer for a new era,” Glover said.

“Type 01 is the foundation of this British brand, one that makes no compromise between design and engineering in our quest to create objects of desire, just as it was in the days of the E-type and XJS,” he added.

The vehicle’s name reflects Jaguar’s plans for the line. “Type” refers to earlier models, “0” stands for zero tailpipe emissions, and “1” marks the first of a new generation of vehicles.

Orders open in early 2027, with first customer deliveries expected in the second half of that year. Prices start at £130,000.

At the launch event, held at the STORIED venue in Manhattan’s West Chelsea district, Jaguar displayed artifacts from the development program. These included tire marks from a section of test track, representing the hundreds of thousands of kilometers of testing carried out on the vehicle. Jaguar also named actor Florence Pugh as its first brand ambassador.
