ABB Formula E season gets underway

Following completion of the first race in the 2018/2019 ABB FIA Formula E Championship, ABB has released an exploded view of the Gen 2 race car which will debut in the fifth season. Faster and more powerful, the new cars have longer battery life, preventing the need for a mid-race car swap.

“The greatest gains we will see this year are in battery technology: with just 20% more weight they deliver 95% more energy,” says Frank Muehlon, head of ABB’s global electric vehicle charging infrastructure. “That really is testament to the power of e-mobility.”

Season 5 race days will also see the addition of ABB Formula E’s new support race, the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy series, for which ABB will provide compact high-performance Terra DC chargers.
