Xpeng has released the first official images of its redesigned P7 electric sports sedan, showcasing a significant evolution of the company’s flagship vehicle. Lead Exterior Designer Rafik Ferrag shared the images and video through his social media channels, providing the first public glimpse of the model previously known by its codename E29.
Ferrag, who also designed the original P7 in 2018, described the significance of the new model: “The original P7 was a milestone for Xpeng and a turning point in China’s EV landscape. With this new generation, we set out to design a pure electric sports sedan that could amaze at every angle. This car is our dream – refined through countless iterations.”
The original P7, launched in 2020, received China’s Car of the Year 2021 in the Xuanyuan Awards and earned 5-star safety ratings in both C-NCAP and Euro NCAP tests.
The new P7 maintains its configuration as a five-seater sports sedan while featuring completely refreshed styling. According to Xpeng, the vehicle represents five years of development work and is designed to showcase the company’s latest technological advancements.
CEO He Xiaopeng positions the vehicle as “a major upgrade for the brand’s next technological leap,” integrating AI capabilities, Xpeng’s Turing Smart Driving system, and an advanced smart cockpit.
“The first P7 wasn’t just a car – it became part of my soul,” said Ferrag. “This time, I led a larger team to overcome even bigger challenges. The future isn’t conceptual anymore – we’ve built it.”
Since introducing the original P7 in 2019, Xpeng has expanded its global presence significantly. The Chinese EV manufacturer now operates in more than 30 countries and regions across Asia, Australia, and Europe as it pursues its goal of becoming a major player in the global EV market.
The company has not yet released technical specifications, pricing, or availability details for the new P7.
