Advanced 800V motor technology delivers 603 horsepower for next-generation performance vehicles

InfiMotion, a specialist in advanced electric motor technology, has unveiled the results of a close collaboration with a global premium EV manufacturer. The partnership has produced the cutting-edge L700 PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) integrated into the manufacturer’s flagship performance vehicle, establishing a new benchmark for next-generation performance Gran Tourer models.

The new drivetrain features one of the most powerful and technically sophisticated electric powertrains developed in the high-performance segment. InfiMotion has designed the gearbox specifically for the L700, positioning it in the rear of the vehicle. The system has been engineered for the manufacturer’s advanced 800-volt architecture and lightweight platform.

The electric drive unit is configured to deliver extreme power and torque, generating up to 603 horsepower (450 kW) and more than 620 Nm of torque at the wheels. This capability fundamentally defines the vehicle as a true performance Gran Tourer, offering instant, relentless acceleration and a highly dynamic driving experience.

“This collaboration shows that electric performance is not about compromise,” said Kay Arnell, R&D director at InfiMotion. “With the L700, you get both sustainability and performance on a level previously reserved for the most exclusive sports cars.”

The launch represents a significant milestone for InfiMotion since its founding in 2021. The company has grown to more than 6,000 employees and continues its global expansion, with current customers including Geely, Polestar, Lotus and JLR. The company operates five factories and R&D centres in China and Gothenburg, Sweden.

“In just a few years, we’ve established ourselves as one of the leading suppliers of Electric Drive Units,” said Chee Kiat Lim, president of InfiMotion. “The new product shows that we are able to develop an advanced new product in 12-18 months and produce it in a cost-efficient manner, and it demonstrates our continued commitment to innovation and excellence.” The launch of the L700 marks a significant achievement for both InfiMotion and its partner, creating a product that establishes a new industry standard for electric propulsion in the premium segment.

Beyond raw power, the L700 has been specifically tuned for optimal vehicle dynamics. The advanced engineering ensures perfect torque delivery and slip control, dramatically enhancing the vehicle’s responsiveness and stability under performance driving conditions. This element proves crucial in the wider context of sophisticated electric vehicles, particularly for high-performance powertrains requiring ultra-fast charging of up to 350 kW DC.
