A hybrid Ford Transit that has been converted into a camper van is set to launch that claims to be one of the most innovative and sustainable campervans available anywhere in the world.

The Ford Transit Custom Evolution Eco Camper from Scottish company CampervanCo is the next generation in low emission RVs, using pioneering hybrid technology that delivers up to 26 miles on zero-emission, electric charge.

The custom-built campervans are also installed with a 1-liter Eco Boost range-extender engine, delivering 91-miles per gallon, removing range anxiety during longer trips.

The vehicle is the latest design from the Scottish-based company, which champions environmentally friendly campervans by designing and custom-building campervans to customer’s own specifications. It was the first manufacturer globally to produce fully hybrid and tribird 4WD vans back in 2016.

The £76,000 Ford Evolution Eco Camper is the company’s lightest and lowest carbon emitting campervan to date. In addition to using the latest motoring technology, it is fitted with high-end, leisure facilities including modular, lightweight kitchen units, enhanced insulation for improved climate control, hot water dispenser, phone and tablet charging stations, optional Wi-Fi technology, elevating roof and lift-up bed space suitable for two adults.

All features are as lightweight as possible to deliver unrivalled fuel economy, and each vehicle is fitted with 1000 watt solar panels, as well as a 3000 watt Leisure Battery to provide zero-emissions cooking and lighting, reducing the impact on rural communities and places of natural beauty where campervans are often stationed.

CampervanCo is also developing a ground-breaking zero-emissions heating system which is on track to be made available in early 2023.

Gary Hayes, CEO of CampervanCo said: “At CampervanCo we have set out ambitious targets to be entirely emissions-free by 2025, five years ahead of the government’s own commitments.

“The Ford Evolution Eco Camper is the next evolution in this strategy, providing motorists with 26 miles on electric charge, with an extender that allows them to discover new places without any anxiety about whether they will reach their destination.

“The campervan was first created to allow people to discover the natural world around them. There is an intrinsic connection to the outdoors and as such we have a responsibility to ensure we are doing all we can to limit our impact on the places we visit.

“The Ford Evolution Eco Camper is by far the cleanest vehicle of its kind in the world, providing a luxury driving experience and custom-built to meet each individuals’ specific needs and desires.”
