Advanced 800-volt platform delivers a range of up to 366 miles (WLTP) and fast charging capabilities

Smart has unveiled its first mid-size electric SUV, the #5, scheduled to arrive in Europe and the UK in Quarter 4 of 2025. The vehicle represents the brand’s third all-electric model, expanding on the success of the Smart #1 and #3.

“We are proud to launch the Smart #5 as our first-ever mid-size family SUV in Europe, built on an advanced 800V platform for superior efficiency and performance,” said Dirk Adelmann, CEO of Smart Europe. The SUV offers multiple variants, including the entry-level Pro model with a 76 kWh battery and the higher-end Pulse and Summit editions featuring a 100 kWh battery.

The vehicle boasts an impressive range of up to 366 miles and ultra-fast charging capabilities, with the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes under optimal conditions. Advanced features include five off-road driving modes, a dual-motor all-wheel drive option, and a comprehensive digital ecosystem powered by an AMD V2000 chipset.

Interior highlights include 34 storage compartments, a 72-litre illuminated front trunk, and up to 1,530 litres of cargo space. The cabin features a 25.6-inch augmented reality head-up display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and two 13-inch OLED screens. A Sennheiser sound system with 20 speakers provides an immersive audio experience.

Safety features include a steel-aluminium hybrid body, advanced driver assistance systems, and comprehensive airbag protection. The vehicle has undergone extensive testing to meet UK road conditions and customer expectations.

Design elements emphasize the brand’s ‘Love, Pure, Unexpected’ philosophy, with signature features like a panoramic halo roof, frameless doors, and distinctive lighting. Variants range from the practical Pro to the adventure-oriented Summit Edition, which includes off-road enhancements like an electric trailer hitch and roof platform.
