To support a safe and efficient EV charging control system, latching relays and switching technologies offer a component-level solution.

With the current advances in the renewable energy market, electric vehicles have become
a much more popular option for the environmentally-conscious consumer. As EVs require the recharging of their batteries, there are strict regulations around the use of domestic and commercial charging equipment.

To mitigate this issue and to ensure safe, robust, and reliable charging of electric vehicles, there are a number of solutions at component-level, in particular latching relays and switches. KG Technologies, which develops and manufactures energy management solutions, provides a line of EVmotive products including HVDC contactors, latching relays, current transformers, and other components to switch, measure and protect the electric vehicle charging control system.

With more than two decades of experience, KG Technologies is highly experienced in finding the best solutions for its customers’ applications. All of KG’s products can be customized to meet specific technical requirements for electric vehicles and charging systems.
To support the safe charging of electric vehicles, KG has created its EVmotive line of products, which are designed to complement EV charging systems. In addition, they all are available from one source, making the procurement process simple and cost-effective.

HVDC contactors provide a means to safely switch high- voltage direct current. Special features have been incorporated into the design of the contactors to ensure their survival in harsh switching environments. Because of the high voltage switching these contactors perform, they offer high dielectric strength and insulation resistance to creepage current. Depending on the application, the products are available in ceramic chamber or epoxy sealed variants at scaled voltage and current ratings to cater for a wide range of applications.

Latching relays are mainly used for switching alternating current (AC). They provide highly efficient switching and are very reliable. A latching relay can be used to deactivate and isolate a branch circuit of an electric vehicle charger that powers the main EV charge controller. KG offers a line of latching relays spanning from 5A to 200A , which are all designed, manufactured, and tested to meet the industry’s highest performance standards. This application of a latching relay is particularly useful in the event of faulty circuit breakers in the branch circuit that may need replacement.

KG Technologies’ expertise and knowledge within EV charging programs, as well as its comprehensive product portfolio, makes it well-suited for new or existing projects. As a Hongfa Group company, it boasts four highly-automated and ISO certified manufacturing facilities, which have a total capacity of 150 million latching relays, plus they produce integrated subsystems. KG Technologies’ product test and analysis laboratory is certified by VDE, UL and CNAS and its products have obtained the certification of UL/CUL, VDE, TÜV and CQC.
