Xpeng officially enters the UK, strengthening its global footprint

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has announced its entry into the UK market, launching pre-sales of its first right-hand drive model, the G6 SUV, with prices starting at £39,990.

The company has partnered with International Motors Ltd (IML) as its official distributor and plans to open 20 dealerships across the UK in 2025. Deliveries of the G6, an all-electric mid-size coupe SUV, are scheduled to begin in March 2025.

“Our launch in the UK, in partnership with International Motors Ltd, marks a significant step in Xpeng’s European and global expansion,” said Dr. Brian Gu, Vice Chairman and President of Xpeng. “We are excited to bring a new era of smarter, more sustainable mobility to the UK market and globally.”

William Brown, Managing Director of IML UK, said: “We take great pride in partnering with an innovative brand like Xpeng. Together, we are committed to shaping the future of electric mobility by providing market-leading vehicles and services.”

The UK expansion follows Xpeng’s entry into several European markets since 2021, including Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland. The company has delivered more than 620,000 electric vehicles globally since its founding in 2014.

The G6 model features 800-volt supercharging capability and extended driving range. At the UK launch event, Xpeng also displayed other models including the P7+, G9 SUV, X9 seven-seater, and the X2 flying car prototype developed by its subsidiary Xpeng Aeroht.

In January 2025, Xpeng announced strategic partnerships with Volkswagen and BP Pulse to develop fast-charging networks and explore new technologies. The company aims to expand its presence to more than 60 countries and regions by the end of 2025.

The UK market entry comes as the country has become Europe’s largest electric vehicle market in 2024, representing a crucial step in Xpeng’s international strategy, particularly as one of the world’s major right-hand drive markets.
