MG has announced its first manufacturing facility on the European mainland, in Galicia, Spain. The €200 million investment will create more than 2,000 jobs and start production in 2028, with annual capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles. The plant integrates R&D, manufacturing, component supply and logistics, supporting MG’s “In Europe, For Europe” strategy.
MG has announced plans to build its first manufacturing facility on the European mainland, in Galicia, Spain, representing an investment of approximately €200 million.
The site will create more than 2,000 jobs across Europe. Production is scheduled to begin in 2028, with an annual capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles.
According to the company, the facility will integrate vehicle research and development (R&D), advanced manufacturing, core component supply, and intelligent logistics into a connected, end-to-end industrial operation. MG says the platform will expand its localized production and sourcing, strengthening the resilience and responsiveness of its European supply chain.
The company plans to deepen collaboration with European technology partners, research institutions, and local suppliers across areas including next-generation battery technology, intelligent mobility systems, and clean energy solutions.
The investment forms part of MG’s “In Europe, For Europe” strategy and follows the EU’s 2035 zero-emission targets, which are accelerating the shift toward electrified mobility. MG says the new facility supports its commitment to the region while expanding access to its mobility products.
The company recently launched its first mass-produced semi-solid-state battery, marketed as SolidCore, alongside its Hybrid+ and Plug-in Hybrid technology portfolio.
Earlier this year, MG delivered its one-millionth vehicle in the European market. Since re-entering the UK in 2011, the brand has built a network of more than 1,300 dealer partners across 34 markets. MG’s parent group has marked the delivery of its 100-millionth vehicle to customers globally.
MG has expanded its product range in recent months with several models, including the MG4 EV Urban and the MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid, the brand’s first seven-seater SUV. These follow the MGS5 EV, MGS6 EV and MG HS Hybrid+, while the MG Cyberster electric roadster anchors the performance end of the range.
“From technological innovation to the localisation of manufacturing and R&D across Europe, supported by a truly global product line-up, MG continues to push the boundaries of what is possible—making advanced technology and sustainable mobility accessible to more people than ever before,” says William Wang, managing director at MG UK and Europe.
“Through our ‘In Europe, For Europe’ strategy, we are not simply responding to the future of mobility—we are helping define it. By investing in local capabilities, strengthening our European footprint and fostering a more competitive automotive ecosystem, we are accelerating Europe’s journey towards a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable mobility future.”
