The Starray EM-i Super Hybrid SUV arrives in UK with three trim levels and five-star safety rating.

Geely Auto UK has opened reservations for the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid SUV, with sales beginning in February. The vehicle starts at £29,990 and features three trim levels, five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, and up to 84 miles electric-only range.

Geely Auto UK has announced the opening of reservations for the Starray EM-i Super Hybrid plug-in hybrid electric vehicle SUV, with sales scheduled to commence in February. The vehicle will be available with pricing starting from £29,990 on-the-road.

The Starray EM-i represents a ground-up design approach rather than a conversion of an existing model. According to the manufacturer, the vehicle was engineered specifically as a plug-in hybrid from the initial design phase to optimize efficiency and driving performance. The model has received a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating across all three trim levels offered in the UK market.

Michael Yang, General Manager of Geely Auto UK, outlined the company’s approach to the UK market launch. “When we launched our brand in the UK, we committed to offering technologically focused, safe and intelligent mobility that is genuinely tailored to the needs of British drivers,” Yang said. He noted that the company worked with Lotus Engineering to refine the vehicle’s chassis and dynamics for UK road conditions.

The Starray EM-i will be available in three configurations: Pro, Max, and Ultra. The entry-level Pro model at £29,990 includes heated electrically adjustable front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and keyless entry as standard equipment. The mid-tier Max model, priced at £32,690, adds features including a heads-up display and wireless phone charging capability. The range-topping Ultra variant is priced at £34,990 and incorporates a larger battery pack along with enhanced charging capability.

The manufacturer states the vehicle offers a WLTP electric-only range of up to 84 miles. Service intervals are set at 12 months or 10,000 miles, and the vehicle carries an eight-year or 125,000-mile warranty in the UK market.

As part of its market entry strategy, Geely Auto UK has established partnerships to address charging infrastructure. The company has arranged an offer for the Andersen A3 home charger and established a relationship with Octopus Energy to provide charging tariffs for customers.

Yang emphasized the company’s pricing strategy, stating that the three trim levels were designed to provide what he described as “a transparent and effortless purchasing experience.” The vehicle follows Geely Auto’s initial UK brand and model launch at the end of the previous year.

All variants of the Starray EM-i feature comprehensive passive and active safety systems, contributing to the vehicle’s maximum safety rating from Euro NCAP.
